Locals and tourists alike visit the area with their kids for photo opportunities in a mostly treeless region of the state.The historical St. Joseph's Catholic Church, built in 1901, abandoned by the Jesuits in the 1920's, used as storage. It was relocated to its present location in 1996 in Anvil City Square, now used as a meeting hall, Nome, Seward Peninsula.
