Salmon Shark (Lamna ditropis) are caught by sport fishermen fishing in Alaskan waters such as Prince William Sound. These photos were made at Hitchinbrook Island near Valdez, Alaska in 2006. Origninally Salmon sharks in Alaskan waters were mostly retained by sportfishermen, but as the fishery has grown, catch and release has become more prevalent than retaining caught fish and is highly recommended.
